strange remark about your collection?

I have part of my collection in a garagebox that opens to the street, prompting the following from a ~15-year old boy: "My family is in the scrapping business, we can haul all that away for you and it won't cost you a dime." My explanation was met with incredulous looks. The next day he was back: "We have some old bicycles, for 50 euros each. I assume you collect those as well." At which point I lost confidence in his ability to think logically.
