BITNET revival? Or were there other uses for Jnet?
BITNET revival would be fun.  One could have used Jnet to turn a VAX
into a remote entry station of sorts too, of course.
  Was BITNET all 9600-baud synchronous modems or were
there other
 (async?) links available between sites? 
Transport could have been nearly anything agreed on by the two ends of
the link.  I don't remember when Princeton did VMNET (internet suggests
1989 or so), but that used TCP/IP connections.
