While I agree with you here, I have to admit that, if my PDP-11/70
had switching power supplies, I'd probably run it a lot more often.
I'd *never* make it an irreversible modification, though.

Um. An 11/70 have switched power supplies normally. Did you remove
them and install large transformers? That would become a very heavy
machine in that case. :-)
Nope, see my other message...it already has large transformers,
and it is definitely a very heavy machine! ;)
