<g> I would agree. None of my systems use anything other than a real
IBM'ish 'clicker' keyboard. I even scrounged one from company surplus for
my system at work (much to the pained expressions of my cubie mates). I
just plain don't like anything else.

I just use the AT ones... Actually the later 3270 and RS6000 terminal
keyboards make good parts doaners for fixing the PC keyboards.
The only difference, besides keycaps and rom code, is the lights may
not be there on their terminals.
Most of the parts are interchangeable.

Hi,
how do you get these for modern pcs? My bios rejects
the good old
8088 PC keyboards.
I use an original IBM AT keyboard, this one I'm typing on now was made in
1985.
Aside for the fact that modern keyboards are so mushy that it's like trying to
type on a damned "dead flesh" Spectrum keyboard I prefer the original 84/85
key AT layout. For one thing the function keys are down the left hand side of
the keyboard....where they're supposed to be!!!

The only DEC
terminal guy I'd like to kill is the guy who designed
the bell circuit for the vt52 series.
I assume you know what the 'bell' was? It was a little relay on the logic
board. Pulsed once for a keyclick, given a square wave for the 'bell'.
Yes, I am serious....

HP Apollo 715/50
50 Mhz HPPA 7000 series (kind of quicker than a SparcII). HP's made
I had a 715/33 on my desk in '92. Not too shabby.
HP/UX 10 available as part of their y2k fixes.
Mentor Graphics series 700 model 720, HP workstation
This one's HPPA -- something like SparcI-II (33mhz?) speed equivalent.
Mentor Graphics series 7+/50, HP workstation
No clue.
HP Apollo series 400
Whoa... the 425 was
68k(040) wan't it. Was this the Apollo's own
architecture or one of the more common 68k boxes?
HP Apollo series 735, none of the above with monitors,
but some with cables
and keyboards.
The 735's were nice deskside servers, some with EISA slot add-ons.
They were 33 MHZ and up (I think our two were 50 mhz).
Proprietary simm slots though.
I don't get to look inside until Monday, but I think they are working systems.
Sounds like a nice haul.

Ok, I give up. I thought I'd seen all of
DEC's terminal products.
What's a VT6x? Can I talk you into posting a little description, and
maybe a pointer to a pic or two?
As I already pointed out in private mail, if you check my home_systems
web page, in the qbus section you'll find a picture of a terminal with
some system boxes on top of it. It looks like a VT52, except for a
column of LEDs along the right side of the keyboard.
