. . . and my Nikonos came with a small tube of
silicone lubricant to
put
on the O-ring that keeps the lens mount watertight.
That's interesting. Could I be misinformed? OTOH glass is silicon to a
great extent, so the idea that silicones should bond with glass doesn't
sound unlikely.
