If I format a floppy in my ST and save files to it, I can read it in my PC without too many problems - however, files copied to the floppy from the PC would quite often not read right in the ST. I don't know if it was timing/interleave issues, or if there were bytes in the FAT which the ST considered optional that the PC required (or vice versa)...
