Perhaps the best thing would be to heat the labels, etc, with a hair dryer and
peel them off, keeping track of where they went. After the boards are cleaned,
etc, you replace the labels using rubber cement.

I'd think ANY cleaning would put them at risk. If you don't want to loose
the information, better document it somewhere.
