What vintage CPU is only 33 mm wide, 37 mm high, and 11 mm deep?
Here's a hint, the QWERTY keyboard / terminal for it is only 14 cm by 5.5 cm.
Well, I admit, its not an HP-01 (sigh...).
But it is a Seiko Data-2000, complete with the pocket terminal-keyboard
thingy, and in very good to excellent shape too. Little ware, and no
scratches.
The CPU / Watch battery was removed when it was stored many years ago, and I'm
looking for any info on the battery type. The pocket terminal had a 2016
taped to the back, so I know that that takes. Actually, there is a real power
switch on the terminal, I suspect the old battery is still good.
Time for some web searches on this thing...
As I recall, its got a whopping 4K.
Does anyone here know the specific vintage of this thing?

I wish to transfer docs on microfiche sheets [~ 4" x 6", ~98 pages per
fiche] to black/white, group 4 compressed .tiff files. Has anybody had
success with this - commercially or otherwise - in a cost-effective fashion?

You might want to look at the list archives, as this topic has come up a
number of times recently.
Looks more and more like I'm going to have to buy a commercial system,
just to print/scan a large volume of docs for the rest of classiccmp ;)

Why do you think the original PSU is beyond repair? Unless it's
physically broken in half or something. Most SMPSU faults can be
repaired relatively easily (at least compared to logic board problems
where there are custom chips to worry about).
Wire jumpers, some epoxy, and some silicone can even fix a physically
broken board in a pinch.

not, did it fail violently, shattered or blackened)? Any obviously
burnt componnents on the PCB?
In the past, I've repaired even charred boards. Most of the materials pc
boards are made from carbonize and become conductive when exposed to
intense heat. I've used a dremel tool to cut/grind away carbonized areas
of boards and replace it with new material or wire jumpers. This is a
common problem in certain monitors due to a bad design of how the flyback
is mounted.
