 what about JDR, JAMECO, BG and a long list of suppliers that take
 small orders and credit cards?

I do lots of business with (well, in the past).

But try finding:

    cross-bar switch
    telco line interface
    bond-out version of a processor
    caller-id decoder

and any other number of specialized chips...
