Hi,
yesterday i got a complete MAI Basic Four 510, similar to the 610/730
including 2 14" removable disk drives including a lot of disk packs. Due
to the size i have yet transported one drive, the printer, terminals,
disk packs and the documentation only. I have to pick up the CPU, the
2nd drive and the remaining stuff over the next weeks.
Now i'm looking for the service manual since there seems to be a defect
in the cpu power supply, the main fuse is blowed:

Anyone out there having these or similar manuals ?
These ones would also be very interesting:

The new ones i got (Disk service manual and owners manual for the

Anyone out there having these or similar manuals ?
On the topic of MAI Basic Four machines, I obtained a desktop-ish model
a while back with some terminals, and wondering what is known about
these and if anyone has an interest towards these systems. It appears
the one I have is a 68k based one, maybe model 2000 or 3000 according to
the little I found out about them.
I have no manuals, software or documentation, but I was told the system
was operational when shut off. There is very little out there about
these machines.
Would love to hear from anyone who knows about these, let alone perhaps
has run one in the past or still has one.

I have a running 2000 but missing some software like the c, pascal and
cobol compiler. Would like to know if your one is a 2000.
Started to write an emulator for that machine some time ago (will boot
the diags from tape, disk controller not yet working). I would like to
continue this project in case i get more software for the 2000 (btw,
based on Charles River Data Systems UNOS)

It is most definitely a 2000 then, and the terminal looks about the same
as well. I'm unsure what the machine would have on it as I've never
powered it on. It was used in a warehouse for order management and
inventory from what I understand, so it may not have development
software if it boots up at all.
If I do attempt to boot it up, any tips on what to do or not to do?
Do you know if the terminals and serial ports are standard RS232, vt100
compatible?

They are all standard rs232 but not vt100. They used an emulation
similar to an old ADM (the ones with ESC = xy, for set cursor pos where
x and y is a char with offset 0x20)
For booting the system you can use a vt100 as well. I have scanned the
service manual and some other docs, they are on bitsavers/mai. In
addition i have the diag tapes and eprom contents of my machine at

You should see something like this (this is a boot of the diags on my
(not yet finished) emulator), this is a diag boot from tape, your one
should boot from wd0. Pressing control z drops you to the debugger, the
boot command allows you to select a boot device, config will start the
config prog where you can set the boot device permanently:
