Just found out that a Depraz mouse type D83/P does not necessarily has the same pinout as
a Depraz mouse type D83/P.
Yep, you read that right....
In fact the red-shelled D83/P has a totally different pinout than the grey-shelled D83/P.
Execpt for the power, which is exactly reversed. Sigh...
Luckily it does contains only common parts (7405 and 74c14).
Idiots......

I thought there were several configs...
One of mine has USB and works acceptably under Windows 8, though I have to occasionally
disconnect and reconnect it, as the driver cuts out from time to time.
Do you have a DMD terminal to use with yours?

At the other end of the Depraz mouse hangs a 30 years old Lilith Modula2 machine.
Putting USB on this mouse must be an interesting exercise...

I remember your posts from 6 years ago about it. Glad to hear it's
coming along (other than blown TTL chips in the mouse).

I think any one of a number of sub-$3 microcontrollers with enough
I/O pins (raw quadrature A, raw quadrature B, and 3 buttons) and
a USB stack could do it.

I acquired it with the USB conversion in place from a former Bell Labs employee who was
there when they "upgraded" several.
I plan to reverse-engineer it one of these days and make the same mod on another that I
have. It has a second PCB inside with a few components, and a funky wire split where some
leads connect to the additional board, and some to the original.
It makes a great daily driver and conversation starter!

Yes, I think I worked that out once, too (thankfully not the hard way) :/
