I have seen some discussion on the list recently regarding the Toshiba 3100
laptops...
I was just curious - is there some reason that these are sought after? I
believe I know where a pretty decent sized stack of them is (about 15 or
so).
Wonder if one would take an ISA HP-IB card to interface with some of my
other bench gear...would they take a pcmcia card for my wireless network at
home?

Well, they're a fine example of a display technology that came and
went: flat plasma panels. Power consumption was the problem; they
run quite hot to the touch.

Should work fine in the ISA slot. I run an Ethernet card in mine.

No, too old for PCMCIA. Unless you could get an ISA-to-PCMCIA
card.

I have one of these whose display doesn't work at all. It does work
with an external monitor so there is nothing wrong with the graphics
card. Is it possible that there is some trivial fault or is it's screen
dead?

I would suspect an internal cable or connector fault, possibly
something to do with the hinge. Or maybe there's no power getting
to the display? In any case, well worth opening it up for a look!
