The CDP1802 was probably the first single-chip microprocessor, but if
you're willing to consider multiple-chip processors, the distinction
would probably go to the CDP1801. It consisted of two chips, a data
path chip containing the registers and ALU, and a control chip. The
instruction set is a subset of that of the 1802.
