I have a number of 16500 floppy disks I'd like to digitize, and am
wondering what the best way is to image them.
I will probably want to look at them if possible if they are FAT, as
some are, so having a flat image would be nice.
I'll look into the prior postings for software to image them for
reproduction.
I just tried a DD from one attached as an experiment in this way, and
did not get a good result:
Macbook Pro running Mavericks
Vmware Fusion.
Ubuntu 10
Teac USB floppy drive attached thru to the Ubuntu machine.
The floppy drive showed up, but a DD only copied in about 1mb from a
1.44 format disk. Not sure what quirk that was from. It's been a long
time, and even though I follow your discussions here, I'm not sure if
this pile will work.
I have a Linux Laptop and also a windows Laptop (XP) which I'm going to try.

IIRC the A uses LIF and the B and C version uses FAT. But little search would provide you
with the downloads for the operating software. Search on the Keysight (Agilent) website.

The 16500A version 6.00, 16500B version 2.03 and 3.14, and 16500C
version 1.09 operating systems can currently be downloaded from the
Keysight website.
What are more interesting to archive are Configuration and Inverse
Assembler disk images for various probes.

love to get the inverse assemblers for a few selected CPUs (68000, 6809,
6502, Z80, ...) for my 1662A. Just stuff I'd be fooling around with while
breadboarding.

I have Config/IA disks for at least the following pre-processor interfaces:
10300B Z-80 probe
10304B 8085 probe
10342B HPIB/RS-232 probe

I mentioned to Glen off list that though my unit had the 16505 which
supports the emulators my unit was using the 16505 just for uploading
the analyzer data. They had a bunch pattern generators in the box, an
oscilloscope card, and what I am guessing is a matching number of state
/ timing cards.
One could use a third party jtag to test a board with such a setup.
Emulators didn't support test jtagging all that well, and there was not
an HP unit with this analyzer.
The Boat Anchor Archive used to have a discussion group, you might look
around to see if they have thought about that, or know of others who
might have those files.

Equipment group.

It would still be nice to have full archive images of the original
Config/IA disks. It is not always clear what pre-processor probes the
INVASM.ZIP files are for. There might be different versions which I'm
not sure are all 100% compatible.

If you have access to a b or c model, wouldnt be easier to do that on the
analyser and transfer it via ftp?

and a copy of ImageDisk should do it.
If you only care about the files, use HP's LIFUTIL tool to copy the
