I haven't yet tried it but at tapeheads.net you can learn about the use of
a 50-50 mixture of Nu-Finish car polish and naptha as a treatment for
flaking/shedding reel-to-reel tape. (Honest)

Just came back from reading pages of the Nu-Finish threads. Looks
promising--I'll have to get some and try it out to see if it makes a
difference.
