Nope. OS X is basically OpenSTEP. The OS X Unix
API is basically
FreeBSD.
Although successive generations of OS X are dropping more and more of
the OpenSTEP Netinfo insanity in favor of flat-file configuration.
Yeah, NetInfo drives me nuts. At least there are nice tools for managing
it, but it seems much ado about nothing.
Panther (v10.3.x) really is the best of MacOS
combined with the best
of UNIX. It's lovely.
As a long time MacOS and Unix user, it was nice to finally bridge the two.
