Hi
I have several BA11 and BA23 boxes that I would like to mount in a H960
rack. I have two contemporary black "drawers", but for the rest I was
thinking some kind of shelf.
It turns out these are somewhat expensive:

There are also L-shaped rails that you put on either side:

They are also quite pricy so I'm thinking I could make some of those
myself.
What do you guys use?
I'm open to suggestions, preferably things that fit nicely in a H960,
but really anything you use to prop up your retro hardware.

For BA11's I'd get rails for the chassis. DEC however used several different
"flavors" of rails and they're not compatible with each other. Of course I
have plenty (of one type or another) in my storage units. If you're close, come by
and grab some (I'm in San Jose, CA).
There are also mounting schemes for BA23 (which I also have).

My BA11 (BA11-S, since BA11 covers an awful lot of ground) just came in a metal shroud
that serves as both outer case and rack "slide" (more of a "grind"
than a slide,
really). I wouldn't mind having something more solid, but it does the job.
There are also mounting schemes for BA23 (which I also
have).
I believe the BA23-R was the official rackmount version, but I could be wrong.

I know, I was intentionally vague since I don't know what I have :)
If anyone has an BA11-VA lying around, I'm interested (doesn't have to
be populated or anything, just the backplane would be nice)

I used plain strips of steel, already bend. it was slotted and
could be used for anything. about 1 - 1.5 mm thick.
Bought it in the local hardware store for 5 - 8 Euro's for a
2 meter section. It actually did held my 11/83 in an H960 rack.
It looked similar to those strips in pic 3.

Hmm, yes, pic 4 it was. It works fine, just sand/file off the edges
of the cut, the corners can be rather sharp.

I did this for an F880 that came without slides, and FWIW I regret buying
the pre-slotted stuff because the holes were pretty big and even with
washers, the heads on the 10-32 rack screws could pop through the holes
if you weren't careful. It would have been worth the trouble to get
blank unslotted angle iron and drill it myself, since then everything
would fit and there'd be no way to dislodge the rails by accident.
