Hi!
Do you remember the Z80 based machine I spoke about, some time ago?
Well, I connect to with Putty, and I noticed that the first character of
the output is missing. I'll explain better with an example.
I see

The ^[* sequence is obscure, to me, ESC *, together with the ^[=7 ^^H^[*
and the above ones.
With putty, they cancel the first char or scramble the output. Other
sequences are well accepted.
Can you help me?

Likely the esacpe sequences are for some flavor of (pre ANSI)
ADM or Televideo terminal that uses <ESC>* for clear screen.

I'd grab an old termcap file and start looking for something similar.
(Yeah, I know, it's like reading hieroglyphics, but it can be done).

Well, I tried to connect with a Wyse 55-SE.
In 50/60 or ADM mode, the escape sequences seem to be handled, but...
now's the hardest part.
I need a linux based serial terminal emulator which can be set to
emulate Wyse something.
Putty and minicom are no good for this...
No way out?

New subject: Odd terminal behaviour - Wyse WY-55ES
Well, I'm missing something...
Z80 machine configured for two users, two serial port, SIO1 & SIO2
With PuttY I can connect to either port. Escape sequences are not
handled correctly (this has been debated in another thread ...).
Wyse *real* terminal, same cable. Straight through, not null modem.
I can connect correctly to port SIO1 (console). But I have to connect to
the modem port of the terminal. 9600/8/N/1. I was unable to make it
connect to the AUX port.
Escape sequences are correctly handled.
Can't connect to port SIO2. Same configuration, only the cable has been
moved from a port to another.
Well, but the odd thing is this.
If I press SETUP on time, the login prompts pops up.
If I press a key followed by the SETUP key, that key is transmitted and
displayed.
So the connection works only pressing SETUP after every (*every*)
keystroke.
Can't be the port, that cable works with putty.
May be the wiring and Putty more tolerant?

...terminal.
Can't be the port, that cable works with putty.
May be the wiring and Putty more tolerant?
No experiance with your actual hardware.
A likely problem would be either the computer or terminal is set for
hardware flow control and its not receiving the proper signal from the other
end.
I use a RS-232 tester with LEDs to track down these issues. Can also use
it to jumper in a high or low to see which end needs what.

I own two 5364 and a 5362.
All of them have the usual stuff installed.
I'm searching for something unusual, like Cobol, Basic, or Fortan...
Does anyone has disk images?
