All the discussion on stacking two PC supplies and cutting grounds to try and keep them isolated seems like asking for trouble.... I've had good results using a PC-AT supply, and a little homebuilt linear (and nicely transformer isolated) 12v supply stacked on it's output to power an 8" drive. (The 12v supply is actually built on the outside of the cover of the AT supply).
