For fun, I'm trying to build an e11 standalone setup. I built a little
freedos 1.1 guest under esxi, ran the e11 install, and tried to run the
sys command on drive C: as documented. Sys complains "invalid target
drive".
Clues as to what constitutes a valid target would be appreciated.

That error means either bad syntax (not a letter, or no colon), or else
that SYS got an error from INT 21h function 32h (get drive parameter block).
The most obvious cause would be if C: hasn't been formatted with a blank
FAT filesystem. Another obvious cause would be bugs in SYS.COM. :-)
If the filesystem is OK, let me know and I'll cook up a FD1.1 disk and
see if I can sort it out.
