FYI
I was looking to see if there was a patent on the 3M Kappamat format, and came across
patent 4422111
which appears to describe the DC600HC 16 track format. These drives were used in early
80's HP combo winchester/tape
systems. A HCD-75 manual is on bitsavers under 3m/

This looks an awful lot like the ADIC 530/H drive that I have. Takes
DC600 size carts, but no optical sensors. The 3M compatibility guide
says DC600HC Iotamat. The internal drive is definitely 3M, complete
with 3M-labeled EPROMs. Interface appears to be QIC02, however.
Kappamat and Gammamat were used on the smaller DC2000-sized carts.
