Greetings!
I recently acquired a Heath H89 computer with an H77 disk drive. I've
gotten it to boot into HDOS, but I don't know how to make it do anything.
Is there a reference available online? I mainly want to know how to mount
disks, view their contents and run programs.

There's a google group called the Society for Eight Bit Heathkit
Computing dedicated to the H8 and H89 systems with lots of people and
activities.

It's been a while since I fired up my '89, plus I tend to run CPM on in
not HDOS.
But the Society of Eight Bit Heath Computers site will be very helpful
for you
