I picked up a core memory board today that was made by Ampex's Memory
Products Division. The date code is 8010 and the ICs are dated 1979 so it
was probably made in early 1980. The sticker on the board sasy that it's a
32K x 18 memory. The board is BIG, 11 x 14 inches and has assemble number
3293212-01. Does anyone have an idea of what it's for?

Probably it is from some 360/370 compatible or add on memory. In the early 80s
I remember finding in a junk yard a bunch of red Ampex cabinets containing
core memory and lots of xTL ICs. At that time I was more interested in
salvaging ICs to build my things than collecting retro HW. I really
regret not having pickup up any of the core boards. In that place there
were also a bunch od disk drive that look like RM03s
