Well... I don't know if I would consider it THAT rare... (at least not
much more so than any other Altair)
The 8800B(turnkey) was the last of the Altair line (as such) and appeared
not too long prior to the acqusition of MITS by Pertec. The box was then
marketed fairly heavily in the 'Pertec Business (computer) System', so its
identity was largely lost...
In reality, all it is, is an Altair 8800B without the front panel, and
with the addition of the 'turnkey' board which provided a boot EPROM and a
serial port (or was it two, I forget). An OK box, but no personality
(i.e. flashing lights)
I've got one in my collection, altho it is missing the 'turnkey' card and
I've been too lazy to wirewrap up a replacement... Now, if anyone has one
of these cards that is looking for a new home...?
