One of my first professional jobs after college was with a company that created after-market hardware and software for Apollo workstations. Despite having a good Pascal, I was tasked with (and completed) a port of a scientific word processor package (WordMarc), all in Fortran (77, at least). Since I ended up being pretty familiar with both the language and environment, I used it again to throw together a simple 8080 assembler in about a day, too. ~~ Mark Moulding
