Of course /. is stupid enough to think that a DECstation is Alpha based...
Wonder how many people will go out and grab DECstations only to find out
the just got a MIPS based system.

Like most netnews groups, SlashDot does not check the accuracy of every
submission. So before you go bashing /. as being stupid enough to think a
DECstation is Alpha based, try bashing the author. Get *your* facts
straight.

Whoops! Looks like my DECStation 3000 has magically transformed itself into
a MIPS machine!
I belive you were thinking of the earlier 2100/3100/5000 machines. Though
that doesn't change the fact that I don't recall Linux running on
TurboChannel based Alphas. NetBSD on the other hand...

That isn't a DECstation 3000. That's a DEC 3000/XXX.
