Are you talking about a modern USB-parallel cable type interface or the
original PC parallel interface where you could individually control all
the lines?
FWIW,
In cases where a real parallel port is missing (happens all the time
now), you can easily and quite cheaply
use an Arduino-type microcontroller instead.
Easily programmed, comes in 3.3V and 5V versions (for the I/O pins),
and many (most?) versions have usb already on board.
