I just received a IBM Convertible 5140 in what looks like great condition. It even had
the little "cardboard floppies" in the drives. It didn't come with any
disks, so I downloaded the starter disk from ibm's ftp site. When I try to boot the
computer I get the message 'Disk Boot Error' I tried 3 different startup floppies
(all made with the thing I downloaded from ibm) and then I even tried an old ms dos 5 disk
I had lying around. Then I cleaned the disk heads and tried everything all over again. (3
fresh floppies and the old dos disk) Still no results, So I googled up disassembly
instructions and switched drive A with drive B, Then I repeated as above. Still
'Disk Boot Failure'.
Does any one know what else I should try? Does any one have any extra known working
drives sitting around?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
