When I had my warehouse I rented equipment to movies.
Usually had a set
designer come through and pick out equipment. Then negotiated a price for the
rental. They usually picked it up and returned it. It did not need to be
running equipment, it just had to look good. Generally they took good care of
it. A couple of times they wanted computer equipment to destroy. They did
break a copier once but paid for it quickly and fairly.
I've rented my RS6ks out for classes a couple of times. Never again.
The last time, a 43P came back with an administrative password and a
boot password set on the firmware. As nearly as I can find out, even
removing the clock battery won't unset the admin password. Fortunately,
I did the classroom setup and knew where that box was, so the teaching
facility knew which student to lean on. The admin password was fuckyou.
Pretty much ended equipment leasing for me.
