I started a project a a while back to come up with a nice way to run
Amiga Emulation. Came up with a prototype recently based on an HP t5735
Thin client that has enough power to run the emulation smoothly.
Finally got all the bugs worked out and I thought id sell some that I
built up. I call it the Amiga Mini
Specs are as follows
HP T5735 Thin Client
1GB RAM, 1GB ATA Flash Disk, Holds Windows Embedded
16GB flash disk, Holds UAE and all other relevant files
8GB USB Flash Drive that mounts in workbench for easy file transfer.
Over 1000 WHDLoad Games come preinstalled on the 16GB flash drive, Along
with 500 Demos.
AmigaForever is also included.
Comes with ClassicWB 3.1 UAE installed and the system boots into Amiga
Workbench 3.1, The cool part is it has Picasso emulation, so you get
32bit color at 1280x1024, Looks great. Boots right into Workbench 3.1
as soon as the system powers up. You can also configure UAE by just
hitting the F12 button.

The internet is fully functional as well. So you can browse the web
with AWeb, Chat on AmIRC with it. Transfer files via FTP or share
files via SMB.
Im asking $120 shipped anywhere in the USA. Good for peeps who want to
see if they like the Amiga Platform, and its cheaper then finding a
tricked out expanded amiga. I have 5 available, If there is demand for
more I will build more of them.

It's hardly an updated Amithlon or anything. That might have been a

and to share a few links.
If anyone has a couple of hundred bucks burning a hole in their
pocket, an old used Mac Mini G4 and a licensed copy of MorphOS for it
would make a far better, far more interesting modern compact
Amiga-compatible computer.

Windoze 3.0 had constant problems with UAEs ("Unexpected Application
Error"). One of the most important tasks for Windoze 3.1 was "Eliminate
UAEs". They did! - in 3.1, they were no longer "Unexpected".
Amiga had "Guru Meditation Error"s. Whenever the Cable TV channel
listings crashed, there would be one broadcast. It was a nice way to know
that the Amiga was still around.

It amuses me that when the first Amiga emulators started to appear in
the late 1990s, everyone thought they were dummies and spoofs...
Showed a Kickstart logo, span the drive motor, sucked a lot of CPU.
People were mystified on disassembling them to find bits of 68000 code
etc. I mean *obviously* it was impossible to emulate the sophisticated
hardware of the *Amiga!*

UAE was one of the first. Its name is now a misnomer -- it's been widely-ported.
Windoze 3.0 had constant problems with UAEs
("Unexpected Application

UAEs". They did! - in 3.1, they were no longer "Unexpected".
I saw a T-shirt once: "I thought UAE was somewhere in Arabia until I
got Windows 3"

Lets not get carried away, Amiga or 68k were sophisticated at the time
-- they where quite shitty, same applies to any other microcomputer

UAE site has been hacked, as it contains stuff in Japanese that is clearly
(by the pictures) not related to an Amiga emulator... unless there has been
some really big leaps in emulation that allow it to surpass the computer

Well, I'm not so sure about "blissfully", . . .

Oh, yeah. There is PLENTY here to read. But, it's likely to be
another few days before I can read comfortably. I tried to read
a page from Knuth, and just couldn't concentrate enough. (BTW,
he had his out a few years ago)
So, I'm just vegging out in front of TV, and moaning and whining a lot.
Getting the catheters out in another few days should make me a LOT
more comfortable.
In the meantime, discussion of "U.A.E." is right about what I can handle.

After a bit of digging on my favourite Amiga forum (Engligh Amiga Board) I

Bernd Schmidt (original UAE main author) talking for 30 minutes at Codex
Alpe
Adria 2006. The mp3 audio file is 7MB in size.
(It does go a bit quiet around the 15 minute mark, but picks up again once
people start asking Bernd questions)

As far as I remember it (and nobody ever accused me of having a good memory),
somebody was so irritated by repeated requests for an Amiga emulator in some
newsgroup or other (comp.emulators.misc maybe?) and they were so determined
that it would be too slow to be of any use, they wrote the "Unusable Amiga
Emulator" to prove the point. Fortunately or not, it turned out to be usable.

Back in the day when it was really bad, yes the U did stand for unusable.
But alot of work by Toni Wilen (the current main programmer for WinUAE - the
windows version of UAE) and many others have made it one of (if not the
best) Amiga emulators right now.
