This needs immediate action everyone, Compaq is in the process of removing
ALL of the old "Digital Equipment Corp" information from the Web. We've
already lost the DEC Technical Journal articles that were on-line, and the
Digital Timeline pages. This is a major blow to archivists and
preservationists. EVERYONE needs to contect Compaq/DEC and ask that they
restore those pages to the web. Please!

It looks like IBM has torn a page from Compaq's book. The drive technical
support page of www.storage.ibm.com has an ever dwindling number of older
harddrive technical information available.
The old 0661, 0663 drives tech documents are missing but were available a
few months ago. Time to take printouts of those oddball drive specs.

Give some email addresses or URL to complain at and we can whine in chorus.
In the mean time somebody with bandwidth etc should grab all they can.

Compaq is a PC company. Hell, they already killed DECUS. I suggest you all
copy everything yourselves and save what you can. Compaq is very unlikely to
help. As I said, they're a PC company, and anything that doesn't involve
paying Intel or Microsoft is bad to them.
