And to bring two topics together (the other being the

thread and putting a socket on for future enhancements)... that
memory manager on the 3000 (or is it the 3500) that's on a
daughterboard... who knows the story behind that?
If it was used with a machine having a 68020,
the 68851 MMU was VERY late. They probably
built their own. Should be easy to tell if the MMU
has an 851 pin pattern.
Apple did something similar on the Mac II to save
the cost of an 851 (since the OS didn't use it) with
Ron Hochsprung's "HMMU" ( a couple of PALs).
