Try westnc.com at http://www.westnc.com/paper-tape-rolls.html#tty for
papertape. They have both oiled & unoiled 1-inch paper tape, but
recommend the oiled tape for ASR 33s. A 1/4 case of oiled papertape
(7 each 1000-foot rolls) may be affordable to you at $92 plus
shipping. (And they have rolls of paper for the Teletype's printer
too at $112 for a case of 12 rolls, plus shipping.)
Good luck on finding a PDP-8 to go with it though. :)

I had found their page in a search, and was considering ordering a quarter case from them.
I figured I'd try to hold out a bit longer to see if a less expensive source comes
along, but patience is a virtue that I don't have much of... :)
Good luck on finding a PDP-8 to go with it though. :)
I've seen a few PDP-8/E machines drift by on eBay since I started looking, but they
were priced above my pain threshold. Will a cheaper one find me? Will I break down and
sell a few kidneys (not my own, of course) to fund it? I may lash the 33 up to my
PDP-11/44 project, but that will be a bit of a mismatch. Maybe an early PDP-11 would be
appropriate, but I don't expect one of those to be cheaper than a comparable PDP-8.

Yes, I finally dug it up - a full case of 28 rolls, all smelly with
oil, the way we like them. I am thinking ten bucks a roll. I will
probably keep 5 or so for myself.
