That's interesting, I
would have thought HP would have used what I call the 'Scorched IP'
approach, kinda like:
"Sorry, you can't have that version, it's no longer supported. It
is not freely available, we will not make it freely available, and
we will hunt down and kill anyone who illegally distributes or attempts
to distribute it."
And the corollary to that: "..sorry, we no longer have the software nor
sources..". As if they ran out of floor-space to store it on :-).
It's almost as though the old stuff is viewed with a sense of contempt
at some of these places (Data General comes to mind). "I'm sorry, those
documents no longer exist; they were destroyed when that product line
was EOL'd" (and we had an office party to celebrate. . . .).
The same thing happened to HP's 64000 stuff ten years ago . . .
