Hi,
Have you ever seen those shipping cardboard floppy mockup that you usually
get with a new drive? That would be the ideal. Short of that you could
probably make your own with rigid but non-abrasive carboard, use a floppy as
a template and off you go...

better to close the

latch or leave it unlatched? i would think that having

closed would keep the drive from possibly getting
misaligned if it got
moved
or bumped around but on the other hand, having the
drive closed for long
periods of time could possibly deform the head load pad. comments?

That's what was in the formerly dusty and dirty Kaypro II I picked up. It
had billing info and charges on it from the repair. Obviously unreclaimed and
unused since being repaired years ago. Fdd's seem fine -enough to recognize
that I'm not using the proper disk. Kaypro fdd's and I never seem to get along.
