It's a rather easy conversion building a new capstand wheel

Interesting, Rik. What did you use to build the new capstan?

For the prototype I glued a small clilinder of polycabonate on top of the
capstand.
I used a poly-urethane glue for it.
After customizing the capstand I fitted a small piece of rubber hose on it
(I use 6.5 mm hydraulic hose for Citroen LHM systems also glued with
poly-urethane glue ) the next step is grinding the capstand to the right
size on a small lathe.
I'll put some pictures on flickr this week.
