I'm wanting to buy a Tiger Learning Computer from anyone who may have one
they don't want. This was the kid computer released during Christmas of
1996 but only sold in limited numbers in the JC Penney 1996 Christmas
catalog. It was Apple ][ compatible--it basically had enhanced Apple //e
ROMs and used Flash ROM cards as an emulated Disk ][ drive. It had
Appleworks built-in. Very nifty.
I'm also open to trades. Any got one?
This is my biggest want currently.

I've been searching for one, too!
Any ideas on how to identify it? There appear to be a number of
toys called "Tiger Learning Computer", including one with a Barney theme :(

Ditto, well, except for an Ampere laptop (APL) and a 5100 (with APL). :)

The description at

is altready quite good. As further distictions from other 'learning'
computers there are:
- no build in display
- sleak (compared to the rest almost adault) design.
- the cardridges are covered by a black plasic sheet
- some cardridges have an apple copyright
- of course the RAM Disk, says ProDOS, and one other says AppleWorks
- a black and white sticker reading 'Apple Technology' and bearing a b/w apple

These were also sold at Toys R (backward) Us here in MN, I remember seeing
them and thinking that they probably would not sell and I'd be able to pick
one up cheap,. Then I forgot and they were gone.

Fry's had a couple of notebook looking things, except with very small, ie 5
lines x40 character displays called Learning Computers. Prices were $29 for
extremely cheesy, and $69 for moderately Cheesy. Maybe there is a
connection to the earlier machines?
