After spending seven years with Motorola, I consider myself
well qualified to comment on this beastie.
What you have there is one of the early 4-wire leased-line
modems. It requires another Motorola 201 or compatible on the opposite
end to talk to, and is not capable of handling dial-up connections
because it has no autodialer in it. It was designed pretty much
exclusively for dedicated private lines.
It tops out at 2400bps, speed-wise, and was designed to handle
synchronous transmission only. There's a weak possibility that a
commercial datacomm company might still be interested in it, but I've
seen people having trouble -giving- those things away at swap meets.
