Linotypes, when driven from paper tape, used the 64 bit, six level TTS or Teletypesetter
code. There are two key line ending codes that were always in sequence. One was the?RETURN
code and the other was the ELEVATE code.

On the linotype, the ELEVATE key would end the line and "elevate" the matrixes,
as a group, to the caster and eventually to the distributor.
