Don't you dare grab any of the keyboards I'm trying to get on EBay! ;-)
They're for the 3278 terminals that I've recently acquired.
No worries
there - I just surprised at the demand for them. Unless
it's just you and one other bidder going back and forth on them :)
I've also recently acquired a 3174-64R
controller (so that I can talk
to the mainframe through ethernet). ;-)
Thanks, that's one clue toward the
eventually full setup. From what
I've gathered, most of the terminal controllers have cards/modules
that will determine what "comes out the other end." There's no real
mainframe around here so the goal is talking to Hercules on a PC.
With that in mind, I'd guess Ethernet, Token Ring and maybe serial are
on the menu.
People may be buying them for parts, the key modules used in the 3278
keyboard where used in a wide variety of IBM keyboards of that vintage and they do break,
they are not as durable as the later buckling spring design as used in PC keyboards.
