could be tweaked for the target system? I'm looking for something that
would fit in a 4K EPROM.

What processor are you targeting?
I've got an S-100 box that I'm trying to stand up from scratch. The
system is complete, but will not boot from the hard disk and I don't have
any boot media for it. It's an Action Computer Enterprise box of some
sort - it's got a Tarbell 2022 FDC, a Morrow winchester controller, six
CPU cards and a "master" card with the boot ROM on it.

F000h. The monitor ROM in the S-100 machine I'm working on actually lives
at 0000h. This means that it's either turned off by the boot process, or
the system was never designed to run CP/M. If it is turned off by the
software coming off the boot device, it becomes a more difficult problem
to solve. Not having any schematics, docs, or software makes it very much
an uphill climb.

I think Dave Dunfiled has a nice simple (generic) Monitor ROM that he wrote. I believe it
can be found on his web page.

I use Dave's monitor (he has two versions plus one with BASIC). They're easy to
use and the first thing I do when getting a new system off the ground.
