Hi there!
Anyone on this list know much about the internals of the IBM 3174's, like what
processor architecture they're based on, etc, and how the "Configuration
Support" operating system for them was written/compiled?

I have several, but I have no idea about the architecture. I can
photograph the boards if you can't get any info elsewhere....

I'm very much interested in this as well, if you find anything. These are
impressive little boxes; I'd like to know what makes them tick.

New subject: [cctalk] IBM 3174 architecture/internals
I farmed the question out to the Hercules-390 list, and someone there mentioned the
processor in use is the UC.5. I had not heard of it before, but some searching does
indicate that this is likely the case.
Anyone know much about the UC.5? Anyone have any docs?
I haven't heard any further details about the LIC or anything like that yet...

Anyone know much about the UC.5? Anyone have any
docs?
I have never seen docs on the UC series, as the architecture was never
supposed to be a product on its own, but rather the brains of many
control units and peripherals for the "real" IBM systems. UCs were
used everywhere - they may still be used in some designs.
You might find detailed information in 3705 or 8100 docs.
