Hi all,
whilst reading my 11/45 processor manual the other night, I came across the statement
that, if Unibus A and B are separated, Unibus B can be used for inter-processor links, so
long as one of the connected devices is a Unibus controller.
Does anyone have any experience of this configuration, and if so, what operating system
was used.
Finally, is there any reason why I couldn't link the Unibus in my 11/44 to Unibus B in
my 11/45, assuming I had some software that could take advantage of it.

There was no operating system support for this. Making it do anything
useful is challenging.
Finally, is there any reason why I couldn't link
the Unibus in my 11/44 to Unibus B in my 11/45, assuming I had some software that could

Electrically you can do it, but it's not clear that there is any actual
benefit.

New subject: classic computer parts costs
The whole thread on Vacuum tubes started me thinking about the cost of
parts to maintain/(re)build classic and/or replica/hobby computer related
"stuff". I'm curious if anyone has tracked the component costs relative
to their day vs. today's pricing. This seems interesting as back when the
equipment was just coming out, the prices were high because the parts
were just being designed/manufactured and so they demanded a premium
price. A few years after a given technology was first released, the
components were probably available for surplus prices, while today, they
are becoming non-existent, so they are again sometimes demanding a premium
price -- a full circle.

It depends on the parts in question - but yes, things are generally full circle.
