that in, especially since a declaration in a piece of mail that it's
"virus-free" isn't worth the electrons it's written on. 
 When people install AVG anti-virus, it alters their signature to insert an ad for itself.
WITHOUT their authorization, or, usually, awareness.  THAT may not be as dangerous, but
it's still malware. 
Clearly that's a sufficient reason to consider that software to be malware and never
use it for any purpose.  But in addition, such a message in the signature is clearly
meaningless because it could just as easily be inserted there by a virus as by an
anti-virus.
