Has anyone ever heard of or have a Quantum Data Corporation 801A

Yeah I have one and I DID have the manual but I'm not sure where the manual went
to. I think Mike Haas may have it but he's not answering his e-mail so I can't
find out. I MAY have a PDF copy of the manual on my old PC. Basicly it's a character
generator that lets you specify the dot time, number of pixels per line, pixels per
character, lines, refresh time, etc etc etc AND all the electrical characteristics.
I've never seen anything else that lets you control a display in such detail. In fact,
it's probably too complex! Did you get the buffer box that goes with it? It's a
small box about the size of a pack of cigarettes and it mounts on the end of a cable about
three foot long. The buffer box has a card edge connector that brings out all the
electrical signals. You put a connector on the card edge connector and connect up the
monitor to the various terminals.
I know that's brief but it will give you the general idea.

ISTR they were a variation of the TRS80 computer with dedicated software
for char. generation at NTSC rates. Weren't too popular.

I found a picture of a QD 801. It's at

doeswn't show the buffer box and I don't think it's included.
