There is probably a microprocessor inside, but it was sold as a disc drive, maybe with a cartridge tape drive that uses the block-formatted HCD tapes (like 9144s). I think the disc drive has about 130MB capacity. Good for old HP 9000s and maybe 3000s; in fact it would look very nice next to a 9000 series 540. HP 79xx and 91yx (for y>1) are usually storage of some sort. (9111 is a graphics tablet.) That's called a "dimple-top". -Frank McConnell
