The is no really easy way to oepn these HPs, theee's no offiical way to oepn them at all. There are basically 2 methods. I'll describe them both, you can then decide what you want to do. The case is assembled by 8 heat-staked pillars. 4 of them are o nthe top case (keyboard mouding) and come down through the botto mcase under the battery cover where htye're mounded over, the other 4 are part of the bottom case, they come through the keyboard betwee nthe front 2 rows of keys (( think) and are then covered b ythe stuck-on metal keyboard overlay. OK, now for taking it apaer. First take off the battey cover and the cells. Method 1 : Use a 3.5mm twist drill bit beld in your fingers ro drill off the moundeed over bits of the heat stakes in the battery compartment. That end of the calculatoe will now separate. 'Rip' the bottom case off to break the heads off the keat stakes at hte front end. This method has the advnatage you don't disturb the overlay, thys preserving the appearance, but it has the disadvantage that you subject the top case and keybaord to rather high foces, I am worried you'll damage something there. The keybaord is also staked together, it it starts coming apart it's not fun Method 2 : This is the oen I normally use/ Using a tin screwdeiver start to free the overlay at the read (dispaly) end. Work the screwdriver under the overlay between each row of keys to free it. Do not fold or bend the overlay, keep it as flat as you can. Pull on the leftend end to keep it straight (this makes sesne if you're doing it). With the overlay off, drill off the tops of all 8 heat stakes with the 3.5mm drill, then seaprate he case parts. Why do you want to oepn it? There's not a lot you can fix in there ;-( -tony
