It is possible that the unit has no monitor or keys in the keyboard.

It does. Rather than mocking them behind their backs, I wrote to them
and told them that it was a portable and they needed to open the lid.
Take another look at the listing - now it has more photos showing it
open and running.
It was not a difficult thing to do, and their thanks were effusive.

What I said the second time wasn't intended to be funny,
it was quite possible that is didn't have the monitor or
keyboard keys. As it was, it was just ignorance on the
part of the seller.
If you took it for humor you have a sick sense of humor.
My first comment was a little flippant. The second wasn't.
