The story doesn't give any idea of what CPU the machine will be based upon.
Anyone have an idea? ARM by any chance? A hacked version of NetBSD runs on
ARM already.

The Corel Netwinder runs Linux on a StrongARM SA-110. And there is a
port well advanced for the CL-PS7110 in the Psion 5, which contains an
ARM processor "macrocell" whatever that is. The homepage for the main
ARM Linux project is http://www.arm.uk.linux.org/~rmk/armlinux.html.
So the ARM is definitely a contender.
