Yeah it was odd to find the HDD in its original box. Mine does have
the color card and has 512k ram in it total. Ive been running it as a
The colour board is quite interesting. Ther'es a 7720 graphics chip in
there, for example. In fact the colour video circuity has a certain
similarity with that in the VT240...
As for the RAM. IIRC the base memory is 128K. So you have 384K o nthe
expansion board. That suggests a 256K bank and 2 64K banks. If you remvoe
the memory board, is the RAM socketed, and is there a 4 position DIP
swithc on the board? I so, I think you can easily upgrade to the maxim,um
memory by fitting 41256s i nall the locations on the RAM board and
setting ythe swithc approrpaitely (IIRC 3 of the switches are set to
indicate the tpye of RAM in each bank -- one way for a 64K bank the other
for a 256K bank. I have the information somewhere, don't expect me to
fidn it quickly...)
serial terminal to my mac, It does make a great VT100
term other then
it being a power sucking monster. Ill have to find a way to get some
stuff over to it via serial
That could be a problem. ITRC, you at least need a boot disk. You can't
load the OS over the serial line.
THe floopy disk spec is 80 cylinders, 1 head, double denmsity. A PC with
a 1.2M drive can do that, but who as one of those nowadays? (YEs, OK, mny
of us do...)
